Your Nest Hello Checklist
The Nest Hello Doorbell combines security and convenience features for your home. It works like a regular doorbell, but combines a video camera and communicates to you through the Nest app, or any Google Home or Hub.
Any time there is activity at your door, you can see the video and get notified if its a noise, an animal, or friendly face. When the doorbell button is pushed, it rings your chimes and can toss up the video stream to your Google Hub anywhere in your home.
Video doorbells also advertise to potential thieves that you are looking – 24/7. Just having a Nest Hello on your front door will help deter attempts to steal and enter your home, which is a primary goal of home security.
Here are some things to check before you purchase a Nest Hello:
- Make sure you have a powered doorbell. This means wires from the doorbell into the side molding of the door. If you have a wireless doorbell, or no wires at all, then it will be difficult (expen$ive) to bring power to the door.
- Make sure you have a working transformer bringing at least 20V to the system. Nest Hellos require power ALL THE TIME because they are looking and listening all the time.
- Make sure you have adequate wireless signal at the door and at least 2Mbps bandwidth to upload the video stream.
Even if you don’t have wiring, other battery powered solutions are available to finesse the situation.

It’s cold outside, so people lets get smart!
Here at Sun Home Automation the east coast winter freeze highlights the increasing value of our Smart Home Technology. A frozen pipe, frozen home heating device, or other cold weather catastrophe, can wreak havoc on homes and create large unexpected expenses.
When it comes to mother nature, sometimes you just have to take your lumps and hope the insurance company and/or your Home Savings Account (HSA) can save the day. However, there are new preventative measures you can take to reduce the opportunity for damage from extreme weather conditions. Read More >>>
When is a home “smart?”
In some respects, it’s hard to believe this quote actually came from the Apple taskmaster general but truer words were never spoken.
We know there are situations where humans take advantage of technology for less than honest endeavors, but the benefits of technology — when appropriately applied –bring enormous benefits.
